A Timeline of Church History

Here is something worth checking out. It is a timeline of the Orthodox Church, with many imbedded links to lots of information. It provides a good overview of significant events between Pentecost and the present day.

Enjoy!

Well, that's just fascinating stuff. My *goodness* the people over at OrthodoxWiki are smart folks.

Unless I read the timeline wrong it seems to posit that Matthew wrote his gospel first. I have always been taught that Mark wrote first. Am I relying on outdated scholarship?

Hi Salvatore,

My understanding is that most of the earliest Christian fathers regarded Matthew as the first gospel written, whereas today some lean toward Mark as the first.

Thus your scholarship is not outdated but it would be interesting to know what it's conclusion is based upon, if not the testimony of the early Church.
